Anthony Daniels at Celebration Japan
Anthony Daniels, the actor who performed in all six Star Wars movies as the golden droid C-3PO, and who has the honor of delivering the first and last lines uttered in the opening and closing episodes of the Saga, will appear at Star Wars Celebration Japan, July 19-21 at the Makuhari-Messe near Tokyo.
Daniels is slated to meet fans and sign autographs in the Autograph Hall, and is scheduled to make a rare on-stage appearance during this 30th anniversary Celebration of Star Wars in Japan. The actor's singular wit, entertaining style and unique familiarity with the Star Wars universe will make this event one that fans won’t want to miss. Daniels has been part of the Star Wars saga since the beginning, after being cast by director George Lucas to play C-3PO in 1975. Loving the character from the moment he saw a concept drawing and read the script, Daniels has ever since breathed endearing humanity and humor into the not-so-mechanical droid.
Outside of the Star Wars sphere, Daniels has enjoyed a diversified career as an actor on stage and television, and as a producer and creative designer in the exhibition and conference industry. Through his wide-ranging experience he has gained Visiting Scholar status at the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center. However Star Wars keeps calling him back. In addition to appearing in the Saga, Daniels has written extensively on the subject, appeared as C-3PO on numerous television specials, commercials, and the Clone Wars micro-series and voiced the droid for the Star Wars radio dramas. He has presented Lucasfilm’s various arts and science exhibitions around the world and hosted popular symphony concerts across the UK, America and Canada.
